Who’s responsible

What we collect and why

• Enquiries and bookings. Your name, email, company and what you tell us about your project, through the contact form, email or a booking. The contact form also records the page you came from and the site that referred you. We use this to reply, scope work and schedule conversations. Bookings run through Cal.com.
• The Journal.If you tick the Journal box or use a signup form, we store your email in Mailchimp with the form you used, the page you were on and any campaign link that brought you. You’ll get an email to confirm before you’re added. We use it to send the Journal and nothing else.
• Field Note PDFs.If you request a PDF without ticking the Journal box, we keep your email only as a record of that request and the Field Note it was for. We won’t send you marketing email unless you opt in.
• Site analytics.Google Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics and Microsoft Clarity show us how the site is used. Clarity records sessions, such as clicks, scrolls and mouse movement, so we can see where a page works and where it doesn’t. Google Analytics and Clarity set cookies. Blocking them doesn’t change how the site works.
• Embedded content. Some pages include content from other services, such as a Spotify playlist, which may set their own cookies under their own policies.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell or rent your information, build advertising profiles, or share it with anyone except the services above that help us run the site and the studio.

Where it’s stored

Our service providers (Mailchimp, Vercel, Cal.com, Google and Microsoft) store and process data in the United States and other countries. While it’s there, it can be accessed by authorities under local law.

How long we keep it

• Journal subscribers: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only the record that you opted out.
• Field Note PDF requests: up to two years.
• Enquiries and bookings: up to two years after our last contact, or longer if you become a client and records are needed for the work or for tax.

Your choices

• Every Journal email has an unsubscribe link.
• Email hello@serifandgold.comto see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to withdraw your consent. We’ll respond within 30 days.
• If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
