Every engagement starts with a conversation. No pitch decks, no pressure. It is a straightforward discussion about where your brand is, where you want it to go, and what is getting in the way. From there, Serif + Gold scopes a proposal tailored to your specific goals and budget.
Most projects follow a clear path: Discovery (research, audit, and positioning), Direction (creative concepts and strategic frameworks), Design (execution across identity, packaging, or digital), and Delivery (final files, brand guidelines, and production-ready assets). The level of depth at each stage depends on the engagement, but the structure keeps things focused and efficient.
Yes. While Serif + Gold is based in Vancouver, BC, and a significant portion of the client base is in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island, the studio works with brands across Canada and internationally. CPG brands in particular often operate across provincial and national markets, and the work is set up to support that.
Most collaboration happens through video calls, shared design reviews, and cloud-based project tools. The studio has worked with brands in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and internationally in the US, New Zealand and Australia, with no difference in process quality or communication cadence.
Both options are available. Most clients start with a defined project, whether that is a brand identity, a packaging system, or a strategy engagement. From there, some transition into ongoing retainer arrangements for continued design support, content creation, or creative direction.
There is no minimum commitment required to start. The studio is set up to be flexible, working with everyone from solo founders launching their first product to established companies with marketing teams that need senior creative support.
When you work with Serif + Gold, you work directly with Aaron Armstrong, a creative director with over 20 years of experience across CPG, craft beverage, food, and consumer brands. There is no account manager relaying your feedback to a junior designer. The person doing the strategic thinking is the same person doing the design work.
That direct access means faster communication, sharper creative output, and a level of care and ownership that is difficult to replicate in a larger agency model. The studio also has a strong network of agency partners for overflow or specialist needs, including NIN9 Marketing Partners and Veto Agency, so you get boutique attention with the ability to scale when a project demands it.
